Statement on the UN ceasefire resolution to end the war in Gaza

Action Against Hunger responds to the UN Security Council vote to support a proposal for a "full and complete ceasefire" in Gaza, and reiterates the need for increased humanitarian access.

“In the last 13 days, over 800 people have been killed and another 2,400 people have been wounded in Gaza. Since conflict broke out in October, over 37,000 men, women, and children have died. Half of the population is on the brink of famine. Action Against Hunger unconditionally agrees with the latest United Nations Council resolution, which demands a “full and complete” ceasefire plan for Gaza. For months, we have called for an immediate ceasefire, safe and unfettered humanitarian access, and the release of all hostages.

Over 270 aid workers have also been killed. Humanitarian access remains a challenge, and the distribution of aid continues to be insufficient to meet the urgent needs of the population. The recent increase in damage to humanitarian and civilian infrastructure, including hospitals and warehouses, is nothing short of gravely concerning. We cannot miss the chance to save lives and allow humanitarian workers to fully respond to Gaza’s urgent needs.”
