There has been a 50% increase over the last few years in the number of Syrian people facing food insecurity – overall, 15 million people need humanitarian assistance. This is in the face of conflict, the recent earthquake, a cholera outbreak, and drought. Action Against Hunger has been working in the country since 2008; it was one of the first humanitarian aid agencies to respond to the humanitarian crisis caused by the Syrian conflict. 14 million people have been supported so far through the charity’s programmes.

Today the Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Affairs, James Cleverley, announced a refresh of the UK’s Integrated Review of Foreign Policy - it is meant to set the direction for action across government on foreign, trade, aid and defence policy, shaping the UK's role in the world for years to come. Over one month on since the devastating earthquake in Türkiye and Syria, the international hunger charity and its celebrity chef supporters whip up a feast to raise money for life-saving programmes which will be needed long into the future

Following the devastating earthquakes in Turkey and Syria The Prince and Princess of Wales meet agencies, including Action Against Hunger, as well as aid workers to hear about the immediate help and longer term plans to help children and families affected. Their Royal Highnesses also thank local fundraisers who have raised £121 million for the DEC Turkey-Syria earthquake appeal.

The first earthquake response team is traveling to Turkey after reports of thousands of people killed and affected. They will be assessing needs around water, sanitation and hygiene as well as nutrition.
