Award-winning steak restaurant, Hawksmoor, hosted its 10th annual charity dinner on Saturday 10th September 2022. The evening raised a record-breaking £187,000 in aid of Action Against Hunger UK.
The dinner, hosted by award-winning writer, journalist and broadcaster Jay Rayner, saw guests enjoy a magnificent four-course dinner from chefs Tomos Parry of Brat, Florence Knight of Sessions Art Club, and Hawksmoor’s Matt Brown. Wine to accompany the meal was donated by Nina Pulenta of Pulenta Estate and her husband, Ivan Santamarina Achával, who joined as guests on the evening.
Tom Best of The Auction Collective conducted a live auction with lots including a range of gastronomic experiences. The Hawksmoor tour – a meal for two in every Hawksmoor restaurant (one time in each) plus any new ones that may open in the next year – proved to be the most popular lot, selling twice and raising £38,000. Host Jay Rayner offered a bonus lot on the night, seeing signed copies of five of his bestselling books go for £3,000.
The night was run by Action Against Hunger UK and Hawksmoor employees, who gave up their time to make the event a success. Co-founder Will Beckett and Huw Gott brought together 40 Hawksmoor employees, some travelling from Edinburgh and Manchester to support the fundraising on the night.
“This means our teams can continue to predict, prevent and treat more people facing life-threatening hunger worldwide.
“The event has only been made possible thanks to the long-standing support from co-founders Will Beckett and Huw Gott, and all the amazing Hawksmoor team!”
