Action Against Hunger statement on crisis in Ukraine

Action Against Hunger warns of the growing humanitarian impacts of the conflict.

Action Against Hunger is seriously concerned by the crisis in Ukraine. The organisation warns of the growing humanitarian impacts of the conflict, which could have a devastating impact on people’s ability to access health services, shelter, clean water, hygiene, safe sanitation, and food.

Even before recent hostilities, the situation in communities between the Dombass region and government-controlled areas was already dire for civilians. An estimated 1.5 million people were in need of humanitarian assistance.

Action Against Hunger calls for an immediate cessation of hostilities and urges parties to the conflict to protect civilians from the direct and indirect impacts of conflict and to uphold International Humanitarian Law.
