The violence continues in Gaza. And civilians are caught up in the middle of the conflict. A catastrophic humanitarian crisis is unfolding before us.

Attacks by air and by land have caused the widespread destruction of homes, schools and healthcare facilities across the region.

  • In Gaza, children are already dying of hunger and thirst. People are starving. With the recent surge in hostilities, particularly in North Gaza, there are real concerns that the worst-case scenario is not only imminent is happening right now.
  • In Lebanon, we welcome the announcement of a 60-day ceasefire. It’s a vital opportunity to save lives and provide more urgent humanitarian aid. However, the situation remains fragile. Over 3,500 people have been killed in Lebanon in the last year and more than 1 million people fled their homes to escape the violence.

We’re urgently expanding our humanitarian response to reach communities in dire need of support. Will you donate now to help families in the occupied Palestinian territory and Lebanon?

The crisis in numbers

  • 45,000

Over 45,000 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed in the conflict.

  • 65,000

65,000 people are trapped in North Gaza with no access to healthcare, medicine, clean water or food.

  • 2.1M

2.1 million people – almost the entire population – face acute food insecurity in Gaza.

How is Action Against Hunger responding?

Gaza

In Gaza, we’re working with suppliers who still have stock inside to urgently distribute basic short-term supplies such as water, food, hygiene products, nappies, blankets and mattresses. We’re also providing a cleaning service at displacement shelters and have given emergency cash to families so they can buy essentials.

We’ve been working in Gaza since 2005. While our long-term programmes have been temporarily suspended to protect our staff and their families, our teams are ready to resume our humanitarian work as soon as it is safe to do so.

Lebanon

We’ve been working in Lebanon since 2006. After the announcement of a ceasefire, we’re ready to scale up our humanitarian response, including emergency food, clean water, and essential supplies.

Since October 2023, our teams have distributed:

  • over 4 million litres of drinking water
  • 35,000 food parcels, including hot meals at community kitchens in Beirut
  • 23,400 blankets, pillows and mattresses
  • 36,000 hygiene kits, including essentials like soap, shampoo and toothpaste

West Bank

Action Against Hunger is also responding to the crisis in the West Bank, where we’ve been working since 2002. Our teams have been supporting Palestinians affected by settler violence and home demolitions. Our work so far has included:

  • providing clean water and safe toilets to 60,000 people
  • reaching over 18,000 people through our food security and livelihoods programmes
  • giving shelter to over 5,000 people forced from their homes
